Every school and district has different policies, resources, and student needs. CYS offers several prevention and intervention options that can be used individually or together as part of your school’s response to vaping, substance use, mental health, and other student concerns.
A school may choose a three-day intervention program as an alternative to suspension, refer students to JADE or Pathways therapy, establish a Random Student Drug Testing program, incorporate individual monitored drug testing, provide ongoing support through In the C.L.E.A.R., or combine several services to create a more comprehensive approach.

THREE-DAY INTERVENTION PROGRAM
A structured three-day program combining substance-use education, discussion, reflection, and skill-building for students involved in vaping, nicotine, cannabis, alcohol, or other substance-related incidents.

A substance-use education and intervention program that provides students with assessment, education, accountability, and family involvement.

Schools can partner with CYS to establish a voluntary Random Student Drug Testing program that gives students an added reason to make substance-free choices.

Families can bring a teen to CYS for confidential monitored drug testing or purchase at-home drug tests for convenient testing at home.

Vaping in school bathrooms doesn’t only affect the students using nicotine or cannabis. Other students encounter it every day, and some tell us it can feel like vaping has simply become part of the school environment.
For schools, repeated vaping violations can mean lost instructional time, ongoing discipline issues, frustrated staff, and students cycling through suspension without addressing the behavior behind it.
CYS can help schools turn a vaping violation into an opportunity for intervention, not just another suspension.

Designed for students who violate school policies related to vaping, nicotine, cannabis, alcohol, or other substances, the CYS three-day program turns time away from the classroom into an opportunity for education and meaningful intervention.
When a student needs additional support, CYS can connect the student and family with JADE, In the C.L.E.A.R., Pathways therapy, monitored drug testing, and other resources.

Students begin by exploring substance use, the factors that influence their choices, and the potential consequences for their health, relationships, and education.

At the end of the three-day program, students will have gained valuable insights into the dangers of drug and alcohol use and acquired practical skills to make healthier choices. Transitioning from disciplinary action to a constructive educational experience aims to equip students with knowledge and support, ultimately encouraging positive behavioral changes. A follow-up session with a CYS counselor is recommended to reinforce the lessons learned and to provide ongoing support.

Random Student Drug Testing gives students an ongoing reason to make substance-free choices while giving schools and families a proactive way to address drugs, alcohol, marijuana, nicotine, and other substances.
Schools partner with CYS to establish the program, parents choose to enroll their students, and CYS manages the random selection and testing process. Testing is coordinated with the school to minimize disruption to the academic day, while individual student results remain confidential.
